AN opportunity to test drive the latest range of JCB equipment at Mackay recently was warmly welcomed by the local civil and construction industries and will now become an annual event.
JCB Construction Equipment Australia’s Mackay branch staged a ‘JCB Dig Day’ over two days recently at Charles and Kelvin Ogilvie’s property on Old Foulden Road, Mackay.
On show and in action were JCB mini and heavy-line excavators, wheeled loaders, telescopic handlers and backhoes.
The event marked the local release of JCB’s 3CX APC backhoe.
Mackay Branch Manager Wes Henshall said some of the key features of the new backhoe were its hydraulic powerslide and six-speed transmission with lock-up torque converter. It is the only backhoe on the market available with such features.
Wes said the JCB 3CX APC also comprised a completely new hydraulic system and longer lift arm.
“Operators who attended the JCB Dig Day were very impressed with its smoothness, speed and power,’’ he said.
About 80 people attended the JCB demonstration days.
“We provided the attendees the opportunity to see the JCB machines in the field and to operate and test them,’’ Wes said.
He said the smoothness, visibility, speed and power were also the beneficial features recognised with the UK manufactured JCB excavators.
All JCB auto tracked excavators feature cushion control to the boom and dipper and this is continuously employed, unless deactivated by operators. It works to cushion the shock loadings to the machine and boosts comfort for drivers.
Wes said the Mackay branch received strong interest in the JCB machines during each Dig Day that they were now following up.
